Hi, Leanne,

I've had occasion to test category navigation for a client of mine. It works, sort of, but there are some formatting problems. If you look at my test blog here:

http://johnthegeek.us/wp3

you'll see that I have four links on the nav bar. About has a child page. Vegetable and Animal are categories. Animal has sub-categories. When you hover over About, the dropdown links have the same background color as the parent link. When you hover over Animal, the sub category links background is black. The link color carries through (both are white). There needs to be a way to match the sub category backgrounds to the page link backgrounds.

This is especially a problem if you create a navbar with a white background and dark link. Because the sub category background is black whether you want it or not, a dark link doesn't show up on it until you hover over it. It looks to the user like the links are blank.

So, am I missing something in the settings, or have I stumbled across another wrinkle generator?

Thanks,

John

1. Okay I see what you mean about the box - know there is no way of making them the same it depends on the content in them. So you can fiddle about with box height etc but when you have something small like search it will adjust as it thinks

2. No you can't centre but what people usually do is remove the color

3. No it wasn't anything that anyone ever requested in feature requests - actually all the things that I'm saying no to is because no-one has ever asked for them to be included as a feature in new releases. If you want to start the ball rolling please do so. In the meantime, for your purpose I would suggest the testimonial plugin - you can see it on my blog in action in the sidebar.

Sorry I'm saying no to everything that you've asked

Thanks, Leanne! I understand all but three of your answers....

1. Referring to the Extra Footer area at the bottom of the page at http://sandbox.earthcalm.net/site1/ -- the Widget Titles (eg. Blog, Resources, Search this site) slant downward from lef to right. The first Widget (Blog ) contains only links. The second Widget will have some text and links. The third Widget (Search this site), contains a search box. Since they will all have different typce of contnet, how do I fill them with exactly the same amount of content so that their titles appear straight across instead of slanting downward? I'm missing something here....

2. Also re: theFooter -- the blue border surriunding the extra footer abuts the right page border, but shows white space between it and the left page border -- looks like it's aligned right instead of centered -- at least in Firefox. Is there any way to get the blue border (box) to center? If not, I guess I can remove the border by making it the same color as the page background.

3. Referring to the Sidebar -- I see the section in the Sidebar Tab to manage the font size of the links. But I would like to manage the font size of the text within the Sidebar Widgets as well, rather than hard coding it each time I add a text widget (right now I'm shrinking my text using font tags: <font size="2"></font>). The Extra Footer has a section (Extra Footer Box Text Style) that allows font selection for the text, and a separate section to select the link font. I'm hoping there's a similar select-text-style for the Sidebar that I'm just not finding....?

Thanks again for your help!

Hi Audre, sorry I did reply to your post but I must not have pressed save

Using your numbering (that was there before but now is gone)

Footer

-Put the info you want in the field in the footer tab where you can add your own copyright info etc. This will display on all posts and pages.

Alignment - I presume you are talking about the extra header widgets? If so, they need to have the same amount of content in each box so you adjust the height in the extra header tab

Decrease the space - in order to do this you would need to hack the theme. If you wanted to increase you would add <p> to the widget area

I don't know what box you are referring to that you want to center?

Sidebar

You can change the font size for links in the sidebar by choosing from the font family.

Black line - it is a bit hidden in the Content tab/Background Border Color- right down the bottom as explained in the manual change the color from the default to white #FFF or whatever hex color matches your page background

Hi Leanne & crew,

I'm loving working with the WP Flex theme! But I need some help on a new site I'm designing: http://sandbox.earthcalm.net/site1/ (Firefox browser, Hostgator hosting).

Footer:

How to code footer to appear on all pages (other than to list each individually, since there will be 40+ pages)?

How to get Widget Titles (eg. Blog, Resources, Search this site) and their content to align horizontally (right now they stairstep down from left to right)?

How to decrease the space between content and title in each widget ?

How to get the box to center on the page?

Sidebar:

How to change content font to match page/post font? (Theme Options allows control of Heading font, but I could not find an option for content font.)

How to remove black line beneath widget title?

Thanks for your help,
